A Better Life · SEEDS
More than a budget.
How the SEEDS System works.
Five seeds. One system. One next step.
Have you ever looked at your bills and wondered where the vision for your life fits into all of this?
You want to care for your responsibilities. You also want room to build something, serve someone and take a step toward the calling you keep praying about.
A budget tells you where your money went. A system helps you decide where it is going, and why. That is what we built SEEDS to be. Five letters, five decisions, and one next step you can take today.
What SEEDS stands for
Each letter is one decision, with a question, a verse and a first step.

Seed 1 of 5See the visionKnow what your money is for. |
What do you want your money to help you do?
Maybe you want to prepare for a change, develop an idea, care for a responsibility or have more room to give. Give that purpose a name.
A financial goal becomes personal when you understand who or what it is for.
“And the LORD answered me: ‘Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.’”
Habakkuk 2:2, ESV
Your first step
Write one sentence that begins with, My money is for. Keep it where you will see it this week.

Seed 2 of 5Establish valuesDecide what you say yes to. |
What matters enough to shape your decisions?
Your values help you decide what deserves a yes and what can wait. They give you a place to return when someone else has something you want, or when an opportunity arrives that does not fit this season.
This is where you connect your priorities with the choices you make every day.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21, ESV
Your first step
Write down the three things you most want your money to support. Next to each one, note one recent choice that matched it.

Seed 3 of 5Execute the planMake it visible every week. |
How does the vision fit into an ordinary week?
Look at the income you actually have, the bills coming due and the commitments you have already made. Choose a step that fits those numbers. Then make time to review it.
A regular money conversation is one practical way to apply the wisdom of diligent planning.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”
Proverbs 21:5, ESV
Your first step
List your monthly essential expenses and divide the total by four. That is your one week starting number. Then choose the day you will review it.

Seed 4 of 5Destroy debtTake the weight off, one step at a time. |
What do you owe, and what can you realistically do next?
Be honest about the balances, the payments and the timing. That gives you a clearer starting point. Debt can carry a lot of emotion, and you deserve a place to ask questions without embarrassment.
Chad paid off his own debt using the Snowball method over several years. Your circumstances, and the approach that fits them, may be different.
“Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.”
Proverbs 27:23, ESV
Your first step
List each debt with its balance, monthly payment and due date. Choose a payoff method, Snowball or Avalanche, and name the first debt you will target.

Seed 5 of 5Sow and multiplyPlant what you have been given. |
How can you care for what has been entrusted to you?
That includes money, time, skills and opportunities. What could you develop? What responsibility needs attention? Where could you serve within the resources you have?
Generosity and careful attention to your responsibilities can grow together.
“For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.”
2 Corinthians 8:12, ESV
Your first step
Write down one thing you have been given, whether money, time or a skill. Then write one way to put it to work this month.
These five seeds belong together.
