Wealth Is Not the Absence of God

"Maybe the church you attended got this wrong. It is time to repent, build a new habit, and walk into what God actually said."

Pray. Plan. Show up. This is your day one.

We need to talk about something the church you attended may have gotten wrong.

For decades, a quiet lie has been preached from pulpits, whispered in church hallways, and absorbed into the hearts of faithful people who deserved better. The lie sounds humble. It sounds holy. But it has kept generations of believers broke, confused, and afraid to want more.

The lie is this: that being poor makes you closer to God. That wanting abundance is worldly. That struggling with money is somehow more spiritual than managing it well.

Part 1

You are not condemned if you are rich

Abraham was wealthy. Job was wealthy. David, Solomon, Lydia. All wealthy. All faithful. All used by God in ways that changed history.

What God hates is not money. It is the love of money. There is a critical difference between the two things, and the church has collapsed them into one for far too long.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith."

1 Timothy 6:10

Notice what it says. The love of money is the root of evil. Not money itself. Not abundance. Not wealth. The love. The idol. The thing that sits on the throne of your heart where God is supposed to sit.

You can serve God broke. You can serve God wealthy. The question is who is sitting on the throne.

Part 2

It Is Time to Repent

Repentance is not just for sin. It is for wrong thinking. For believing things about God and money that were never in Scripture. For agreeing with a lie so long it started to feel like truth.

If you have believed that wanting abundance makes you greedy, repent of that.

If you have believed that your financial struggle is God keeping you humble, repent of that.

If you have believed that the right response to financial pressure is just to pray harder without building a plan, repent of that too.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

God's plan for you includes abundance. That is not a prosperity message. That is what He said. The question is whether you will agree with Him or keep agreeing with the lie.

Part 3

Prayer Will Not Fix Your Math

Here is something nobody tells you when you are in a financial crisis. Praying harder will not balance your accounts. And that is not a criticism of prayer. Prayer is the foundation of everything we do. But somewhere along the way, we started treating prayer like a substitute for action instead of a companion to it.

Think about Joseph. He did not just pray about the famine. He built storehouses. He created systems. He managed resources across an entire nation for seven years before the crisis arrived. His prayer life and his planning were not in competition. They worked together.

God wired you with a mind that can think, plan, budget, and build. When you use that mind with intention, that is not a lack of faith. That is faith in action. That is honoring the wisdom He placed inside you.

"The plans of the diligent lead to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty."

Proverbs 21:5

Plans. Not prayers without plans. Both. In that order. You pray first and then you build. You bring it to God and then you do the work He gave you wisdom to do.

Pray + plan = God's Will. That is the order. That is the formula.

Part 4

Build the New Habit. Starting Today.

I used to check my bank balance before I checked my plan. Every morning. First thing. Before prayer, before coffee, before anything. I would reach for my phone and open the bank app. I had to make a decision.

Balance tells you where you have been. The plan tells you where you are going.

Joseph did not check the famine forecast every morning. He built the storehouse. He made a decision once and then he executed the plan every single day until the season changed.

That one change saved us.

Building a new financial habit is exactly like starting a diet or going back to the gym. You do not feel ready. You do not feel like it. The first day is uncomfortable. The second day is hard. But the tenth day starts to feel like a new version of yourself. And the thirtieth day? That is who you are now.

Stop opening your bank app first thing in the morning. Open your plan. That is the new habit. Start today.

You are not behind. You are early in the new timeline God is writing. Generational wealth does not start when you have a lot. It starts the day you decide. Today is your day one.

A Prayer for You

Father, we come before You, and we repent. We repent of every lie we believed about money and about Your intentions for us. We repent of confusing struggle with holiness and abundance with sin. Your Word says You have plans to prosper us. We choose today to agree with Your Word that's alive and active. Remove every spirit of poverty, fear, and scarcity from our minds. Replace it with the mind of Christ. Help us learn from Joseph and have the mind that sees the season, builds the storehouse, and trusts that the famine will not destroy what You have prepared. Give us the discipline to pray first and then to build. Give us the courage to open our plan before we open our bank app. And let the new habit we start today become the inheritance our children walk into tomorrow. Wealth is not the absence of You. Wealth is the result of walking with You. In Jesus name. Amen.

This Is Your Day One.

You came to this blog for a reason. Maybe someone sent it to you. Maybe you found it in the middle of a season that doesn't add up. Maybe you have been praying about your finances for years and nothing has moved.

Here is what we know. Prayer without a plan is incomplete. A plan without prayer is empty. But prayer AND a plan, built together, with someone who has walked this road before you? That is where things start to change.

Wealth is not the absence of God. Wealth is the result of walking with Him. Let us walk together.
